The City
Time to send out another thank you to the iTunes shuffle feature for this one. I posted a song from The City’s excellent album a couple years ago but this one is way better. It’s one of those rare songs that kicks off with the hook yet manages to improve as it goes along . It also features a killer ending, as many Carole King songs do, twisting the end of the chorus in a new and satisfying way before a little late-60s folk-rock noodling takes over for the fade out. Good stuff.
The CD appears to be out of print, but I guess people who use Zune can listen to it and I did find it on YouTube, in both the original and a pretty hilariously goofy ModSquad version. The whole album is pretty great, so it’s worth a search on eBay to find a copy for yourself.
