I suppose technically "Let's Dance" was my first SRV moment, too, though I didn't know it until a little later. And yep, Bowie can sure pick 'em.

My first exposure to SRV was listening to David Bowie's Let's Dance. I'm still amazed at Bowie's knack for recruiting guitar monsters including Adrian Belew (and Fripp too), Mick Ronson, and Boston's own Reeves Gabrels. Yes, I know I'm leaving the list too short.

Yeah, I guess that might be the prevailing thought outside of the NY area... we didn't really think of that. Oops.

Also, there really is an absolute WEALTH of amazing Morricone stuff beyond the Westerns and The Mission. My particular favorite non-Western vein of his is what he did for 70's Police, Horror and Giallo films. It's very continental sounding, funky jazz and orchestral pop. I have a great 3-disk compilation of this stuff called Mondo Morricone Revisited that I really can't recommend as much. He's just such a wizard with melodies and arrangements.

Hope you liked Showdown!

I don't know how this investigative reporting slipped past me the first time, but I am grateful that I have now discovered the many stick foods in their natural habitat. Not sure if that run-on sentence made any sense. I'm too tired to reread it.

I remember sneaking into my older sister's room to listen to her S&G album over and over again. Listening to this track reminded me of how my impression of romantic love was formed, at that young age, by this song. Such an idealistic young Garfunkel - I wish love was a simple and pure as this song makes it seem.
